Lester M. Paredes III, Esq. is a lawyer dedicated to improving the lives of people. After graduating from Georgetown University Law Center in 2008, Mr. Paredes moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to work as a Clark County Assistant Deputy Public Defender. As a public defender, Mr. Paredes represented indigent adults accused of crimes, people that had insufficient resources to hire a private attorney and needed a skilled advocate represent them in court.
Mr. Paredes is a Fourth Amendment scholar and in 2009, was published in the Criminal Law Bulletin. The article, THETRAVELERS’ PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT: BE REASONABLE WITH MY PRIVATE INFORMATION AND EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT, 45 Crim. L. Bull. 1-41 (2009), canvasses the constitutional rights implicated by warrantless and suspicionless searches of digital information at the nation’s border while arguing laptops are distinguishable from luggage and are thus illegal and unreasonable.
The dedication to continual self-improvement and advocating for people was the impetus for Mr. Paredes to attend the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College in 2014. The college, dedicated to helping people from the tyranny of corporate and government oppression, lasts three weeks and teaches lawyers advanced communication skills in the context of a jury trial. Lawyers work on every phase of the trial and story telling through the truth-in-action methods of psychodrama.
Currently, Mr. Paredes teaches trial advocacy part-time at UNLV for the UNLV Mock Trial Team and practices law full-time at a local personal injury law firm, the Paternoster Law Group, LLC.
