The Human Rights and Social Justice Center agrees with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights when it states that the “the recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights” of all people is “the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.” Therefore the HRSJC seeks justice for the most vulnerable members of our society – often death row prisoners, juveniles, people wrongly convicted, or charged with violent crimes, poor people, and climate refugees who are denied effective legal representation, and others whose trials are marked by racial bias or prosecutorial misconduct. The HRSJC also provides education and training to both law students and lawyers in order to advance greater social justice. As an international nonprofit, nongovernmental human rights organization the HRSJC also works with international human rights professionals including country experts, lawyers, journalists, and academics in fighting for a world in which everyone enjoys human rights and social justice.
